Community involvement and support

Balco Australia is a company ‘born and bred’ in a small regional community. It was established with the prime objective of lifting the prospects of Balaklava and we continue to place a high value on community spirit.

Just as Balco is a major regional employer and economic generator, Balco is also dependent on the support of the community and has adopted local programs and policies in recognition of this.

This includes:

• Directly employing more than 140 people in local regions across Australia
• Supporting a wide range of community organisations through donations
• Ensuring a ‘local and strong’ voice on regional development boards and committees
• Providing assistance to schools, sporting groups and community groups in addition to funding
• Buying locally as much as possible
• Offering gift vouchers to local businesses as performance bonuses for Balco employees
• Encouraging and supporting employees to live locally

Holding promotional functions and supporting large community events by encouraging client attendance. This includes hosting a marquee at Balaklava Cup race day and running  popular corporate events across Australia.
